MBMM #6

I made this yellow bear for Marty's birthday when he turned 6. He named him "Guarder" and it is his favorite lovey. I always wondered why he chose that name and once asked him. He said,"Because he guards me like you do to keep me safe." That's the kind of thing that keeps a mama sewing.

MBMM #5

It's a bonus photo today! Here's Matt in his Christmas pajamas along with the prayer kneeler I built for him. It has a padded leather kneeler, using some of that left over leather from the couch re-cover last spring. I had help with this project and it turned out very well I think.

Little Mousies
I think little mice are cute in inanimate forms. No real ones, please; they're just dirty.
These were knitted and I love them! The littlest is an endangered species--too tiny to do again.

MBMM #3

We have a family altar and have this little "Fr. Oak" who stands there and wears vestments that correspond to the liturgical seasons. (He actually started out life as a chair seat). This year I made 2 sets for friends. They are also "Fr. Oaks" because they were made from .....yes, oak!

Made By Me March (MBMM) #2

The kids thought matching Christmas pajamas would be fantastic, so we bought 10 yards(!!) of flannel and went to work. Sarah and Amy helped sew, too. With everything else at Christmas, I knew the only way it could be possible was if we bought t-shirts instead of making the tops, so we did that.

Made By Me March #1

I've decided that all things in this "Made By Me March" series must be thing that I've made and we have here in our house. (I make lots of things and give them as gifts). At first I wanted all items to be clothing, but maybe this is more fun.
Because of today's unplanned trip to the Fayetteville ER, this first post has to be of something that's already in the computer files. Marty fell in PE and split open his temple. Instead of driving all the way up to Sanford's ER, we went to F'ville, and I'm glad we did. They have a kid's ER department which was fantastic. As usual, wait time was LTIT (longer than Iowa time), so I am very grateful for well behaved children who can be trusted to be in the waiting room without me. Marty was a trooper; not one tear. The kid's pain tolerance is scary.
Without further adieu.......#1

This is the kids' bathroom that we redecorated last summer while Matt was at the Boy Scout Jamboree. The shower curtain and toilet seat cover were made my me. On the left wall you can just see the art work that was made by the kids.

Coming in March, 2011

I'm thinking about doing a "Made By Me March" series of posts wherein I will post a photo for each day of March, of something I have made. Originally this idea was about clothing, but I might like to include some other stuff if i run out of garments. What do you think?
